Overview

A mobile emergency support system designed to help parents respond quickly when an infant stops breathing.

Background

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) accounts for around 15% of infant deaths in the first year of life. In emergency situations, caregivers often struggle to act quickly due to stress and uncertainty. While many baby monitoring products track vital signs, few systems focus on supporting parents in taking immediate action during a crisis.

The problem

During a breathing emergency, parents must make critical decisions within seconds, yet stress and panic often prevent them from recalling basic first aid procedures or responding effectively.

Results

  • Introduced an emergency interaction model that guides parents through a structured step-by-step response, from detecting abnormal breathing to contacting emergency services.

  • Reduced cognitive load during high-stress situations by transforming a complex emergency response into a simple guided action flow.

  • Designed a system combining real-time monitoring with emergency guidance, shifting baby monitoring from passive tracking to active crisis support.
